“Determined Panthers Run Together”
IT'S PANTHER RUN TIME!!
The Panther Run is our annual premier Fundraising Event! Our goal has always been to bring the Wood Gormley community together in a fun and healthy environment to raise funds for our school. The Panther Run will include all the students at Wood Gormley in an exciting 1K race around the school! The children train in P.E. class leading up to the event and on the event day, we welcome parents and friends to come and cheer them on. This is our 21st years of The Panther Run, and we are SO excited for this event!
Funds raised go directly back to our school and are used to pay for math interventionists, supplement our art program, purchase P.E. equipment, support after-school clubs, provide classroom supplies, maintain playground equipment, offer a $1,000 per teacher allotment, fund school events, and much more!
We encourage each student to raise at least $75.00 and there are some great prizes!
OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL: $25,000
100% of your fundraising efforts go directly to Wood Gormley.

Panther Run Thursday April 24th, 2025 Schedule
All grade-level run times are “Estimates” with younger grades starting at 8:30am with subsequent grades to follow. Event will end around 11:30am. We may be ahead or behind schedule, and will run the next group as soon as the previous group is finished. If inclement weather is likely, we will have the competitive students run first then do all of the non-competitive groups last (and most likely indoors). There will also be an inside only schedule if weather is too poor and unsafe for students to be outside.
Bad Weather Schedule
*Students will only be indoors in the small gym if the weather is unsafe (lightning, hard rain or accumulating snow). Otherwise, with gentle rain or flurries, students will complete the run as planned.
Thank you to our community Sponsors!
Panther Run History
The first Panther Run started in 2005 by P.E. teacher Ted Freedman and an enterprising parent. He had been teaching at Wood Gormley since 1996, but the PE position at the school was not funded by the school district. School districts had to choose between funding music programs or PE at the elementary level. Originally this fundraiser was to raise money for the PE teacher position. Once the district began funding PE, the Panther Run raised money for many special programs at the school that support our students and staff. For over a decade Panther Run was open to the community and was typically the first spring race for many runners. At one point there were over 600 runners that participated! In the past few years, Panther Run became a Wood Gormley students, staff and families event due to changes and expenses in organizing a city wide event, but this did not change the spirit of Panther Run. In fact, it became an event that every single student in the school participated in!
